Cross Country Trip (Day 7) – Texas

Will we ever get out of here???

This place goes on and on, but we do expect to break free tomorrow and hopefully make it to Santa Fe, New Mexico. We got to Tyler, Texas on Sunday night, and to be honest, we chose to spend a few days here.

Monday, Fay and I drove to the outskirts of Dallas, then took the train into town to visit the George W. Bush Presidential Library and the JFK Museum. We really liked both of them, but probably the most interesting part was a temporary exhibit at the Bush Library that they currently have on Presidential Campaigns throughout history. With the crazy campaigns we’ve seen in the last year, this one really caught our attention.

Of possible interest to any other Casita people reading this, today we went to Little House Customs to get some work done on our trailer by Larry Gamble, probably the most well known expert on Casitas as most of you know. We had a great experience and enjoyed meeting and spending some time with Larry and Debbie.

We’ve ended up in Wichita Falls, TX tonight and just saw on the news that more severe weather is coming to the South and Midwest, likely hitting here tomorrow and Thursday. We’re going to try and get an early start tomorrow and get out before things get nasty!

We’ve been on the road for a week now, and really enjoying ourselves. The next week should start to get us into some great new scenery like Fay and I have never seen before.
