What’s It Like to Attend a Small Travel Trailer Rally?

Small Travel Trailer Rally

A Really Great Experience!

We just got back home from a great (and big) one last week.

We attended the 4th Annual Florida Egg Rally and S' More. This rally is held each January at the Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park and Campground in north Florida (near the junction of I-75 & I-10). It's a huge private park, with a focus on music. They often host big name entertainers and music festivals, although during the rally music was limited to a live band in the music hall on Friday and Saturday night. Both bands played country and a little rock, and were quite good.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Sherri Magill, this rally has grown to over 100 trailers in attendence in just four years. Sherri is all about planning activities and making sure everyone has a great time. And oh yea...there's plenty of food!

So, back to the original question...

what's it like to attend a rally like this?
Well, it's certainly about eating! There were potluck's in the evening with plenty of leftovers.
The potlucks on Friday and Saturday evening certainly left you ready for a nap by the fireside

It's about seeing a lot of other trailers. Some like your own, and some like you've never seen before!

And certainly not one like this!

And it's a perfect opportunity to see what they look like inside

But most of all, it's about meeting new people that have something in common with you, and establishing new friendships!

This was only our second rally, but certainly not our last

In fact, Sherri has another smaller one coming up in March, not far from our home here in Orlando at Wekiwa State Park. Of course unless you made a reservation way back when, it's too late at this point. Florida campgrounds have a real tendency to be full this time of year!

But if you are interested in a great rally in Florida next January, check out Sherri's rally page on Facebook. Even though the rally is named after "egg" trailers, Sherri welcomes everyone. Just know that if you have anything bigger, you'll have to do a lot of explaining as to why you need so much room!!!

By the way, some of the photos above are by Roy Vannoy. He did a great job documenting the whole weekend!

After having spent most of our adult life in Orlando, my wife Fay and I moved to Knoxville, TN in 2020. We are loving the change of seasons and being near the mountains. Plus, this part of the country is loaded with great places to camp.

We camped years ago with a pop-up camper, but got serious about it when we purchased our Casita in 2014. There was a lot to learn as we started traveling with it, and a lot of conflicting opinions on line. That's when I decided that creating a website would be a good retirement project. I started tinyTowable.com to share things we've learned along the way that have worked well for us in hopes that the information would be of help to others.

However, since moving to Tennessee, I've gotten involved with new hobbies (you can check some out on my personal website at https://www.softrite.com) and we haven't camped very much. So, at the end of 2023, I made the tough decision to stop updating this website.

  1. Thanks for the shout out Denny and all the support you gave us during the rally. It is because of people like you and Faye that this rally is so successful. Great photos Roy!

    1. Hi Robert,

Thanks for reading my article and for the question.  Being in Florida, I really don’t pay much attention to rallies that far away from us.  I do host two groups on Facebook though that would probably be a good place to ask the question.

First is the Campgrounds group.  It as over 4,000 members mostly from the U.S. with some from Canada.

Second is the Small Travel Trailers group has over 3,000 members, also mostly from the U.S. with some from Canada,

People tend to be quite helpful in these groups, so hopefully it will be a good place to get some answers to your question.

  2. Robert, there is a listing of rallies on fiberglassrv.com if you want to check it out. Once on the home page scroll on the left side to forums. Then scroll down through the blue banner headings to rallies. My husband and I live in KY and love to attend rallies…to the tune of 6-7 a year!! Hope to see you around!
